Applications were due by 5pm ET on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016.

We received more than 500 applications for scholarships to the 8th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference!

Scholarship award emails were sent on Friday, March 25, 2016. Everyone who applied for a scholarship should have received an email on this day. If you did not receive one, please check your spam/junk folder, and then email us at scholarship@farmtoschool.org and we will re-send your award status email as soon as possible.

If you applied for a scholarship, DO NOT REGISTER for the conference until you hear back from us regarding your scholarship status. You will still be able to register at the early bird rate if you do not receive a scholarship.

ADDITIONAL FUNDING SOURCES
You can also raise funds for your trip to the National Farm to Cafeteria Conference by asking friends, family, coworkers and others to sponsor you or by hosting a fundraising event. Download the Farm to Cafeteria Conference Fundraising Toolkit for more tips and resources on raising your own funds. If you already have a donor in mind to cover your registration costs, please view this packet for instructions on collecting the donation and registering with those funds.

The National Farm to School Network makes it a priority to keep conferences affordable and to offer scholarships to make events more accessible. Now is your chance to apply for a scholarship award to attend the conference in June!

WHO SHOULD APPLY

All interested attendees are invited to apply for scholarships to reduce the cost of participating in the conference. To ensure the conference reflects the full diversity of farm to cafeteria constituents, scholarships are prioritized for the following groups:

  • Farmers / farmer support organizations
  • Youth (through age 22)
  • Persons of color
  • Food service professionals
  • Farm to college/hospital practitioners
  • Early care and education providers

Additional preference will be given to first-time conference attendees and presenters. Representation from all regions of the country will also be taken into consideration when evaluating scholarship applicants.

*Note: NFSN Core Partners are not eligible to apply for scholarships and should reach out to anupama@farmtoschool.org for additional fundraising support.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENT

Scholarship recipients are required to commit to a volunteer shift during the conference. The minimum volunteer commitment will be one 4-hour shift, but the number of scholarship recipients will determine if recipients will need to commit to more than one shift (up to two 4-hour shifts max per volunteer). If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be sent a form regarding your volunteer shifts and duties, which must be completed in order to secure your scholarship.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications must be received or postmarked by 5pm EST on Feb. 29, 2016. We prefer you complete the online scholarship application, but hard copies will also be accepted. Submission method will not be a determining factor when making award decisions.

For hard copy submissions, download the application as a pdf and mail to:

AWARD NOTIFICATION

We will let you know if you have been awarded a scholarship by March 25, 2016. Please DO NOT REGISTER for the conference until you hear back from us regarding your scholarship status. Any person who has applied for but not received a scholarship will still be given the opportunity to register at the early bird registration rate. Additional field trips and short course spots will be made available on the scholarship announcement date to ensure that these events do not fill up before scholarship recipients are able to register.
